Gunnersbury Park Tennis Court Construction Project

In October 2017, ETC Sports Surfaces completed a tennis court construction project at Gunnersbury Park, as part of a wider project to create a new public recreational space within the London landscape.

Gunnersbury Park, jointly owned by Hounslow and Ealing Councils features one Grade I listed and one Grade II listed Georgian mansions, as well as many historical buildings all set within the stunning community park. The site has recently undergone a major transformation, having been awarded two grants by the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2014, the councils began the project, which would overhaul the museum and make major improvements to the park landscape.

The aim of the project was to transform Gunnersbury Park into a sustainable, high quality public space that serves the local community. With a rich history that the councils wanted to preserve, the development plans included the creation of a diverse mix of culture, heritage, events, sports and recreational activity.

A new sports hub was included within the new development, with the aim of unlocking the vast potential of the grounds. The plans included an indoor community sports hub, five court sports hall, eight grass pitches, two 3G pitches and eight outdoor tennis courts with floodlights, the latter constructed by ETC Sports Surfaces.

Commissioned by Hounslow and Ealing Councils, ETC Sports Surfaces began construction of the eight new outdoor tennis courts with floodlighting in April 2017, beginning with major associated earthworks. Photographs of the project’s progress, along with the completed tennis court construction are available on our Facebook page
