Considerate Constructors Scheme Compliance
Sports pitch construction exceeds CCS Compliance standards for another year!
Now, more than ever, ensuring the highest health and safety standards in sports pitch construction is a huge priority. Why? Because installing sports pitches and facilities often involves working on sites with a high foot fall and multiple stakeholders. Not to mention the importance of future-proofing our sports surface solutions so that every player can enjoy them safely for years to come. That’s a complex enough business in normal times! Now, though, as we all start to emerge from the Covid pandemic, it’s even more important to know that our health and safety measures are beyond reproach.
That’s why ETC Sports Surfaces is delighted to announce that the Considerate Constructor’s Scheme has again confirmed our “Performance Beyond Compliance” status. During its most recent visit, the CCS awarded us a score of at least seven points across five areas of the organisation’s Code of Considerate Practice:
- Caring about appearance
- Respecting the community
- Protecting the environment
- Securing everyone’s safety
- Valuing our workforce
So, why does the Considerate Constructors Scheme matter?
Well, since 1997, this independent, not for profit organisation has been the go-to benchmark for excellence in construction health, safety, and social responsibility. We’re not obliged to be a part of the scheme. But we choose to take part on a voluntary basis, because we know that our customers don’t just choose us for quality, affordable sports pitch construction. They also need to know that they’ll enjoy outstanding service, fair pricing, an ethical approach and complete peace of mind.
Imagine, for example, that you’re planning to install a MUGA on a small school site. It’s not just about getting the job done on time and on budget. For us, that’s the baseline standard on every contract. It’s also about handling all of the complex interactions and activities on that site. If we’re working during term time, we need to ensure that pupils are protected, and staff can work without disruption. Plus, of course, we must consider the needs of the surrounding community. And that means going above and beyond to make sure that our approach is sensitive to issues like noise, deliveries and so on. In short, everyone’s safety must be at the top of the agenda throughout the sports pitch construction project timeline.
Going the extra mile as sports pitch contractors
But being part of the CCS goes further. We’re also committed to finding environmentally friendly and cost-effective solutions. They’re solutions like Tweener®, the energy and cost saving floodlighting system that is only available in the UK through ETC. Then, there’s Power Padel – which saves customers time, money and unnecessary construction works with it’s unique “lift and store” system. These are just two examples of how we’re always looking for the next big sports surface solution. We do it to benefit our customers, the community and – of course – sports players at every level across the UK.
What’s more, our commitment to working with the UK’s accreditation bodies doesn’t stop there. We’re also active members of SAPCA, CHAS and Constructionline. We cooperate with them to uphold outstanding standards across all our sports pitch construction projects. And we go further, by working pro-actively with Safety Services (UK) Ltd. They provide us with an independent view on our in-house policies to make sure that everything we do meets industry benchmarks. Our ISO 9001 certification assures our customers of the highest quality across our products and services. And we work with sports specific organisations including the Tennis Industry Association and LTA Padel to align our best practice approach across all the sports that we serve.
