Duston United Tennis Club

ETC Sports Surfaces Limited have recently completed another project, the project was for Duston United Tennis Club, Northamptonshire. The works consisted of the resurfacing of Existing Tennis Courts with a “New” Porous Asphalt Surface, Fencing & Associated Works. The project started on 18th September 2017 and was completed by 29th September 2017, however the final colour spray had to wait until this year and was completed a few weeks ago.

The Porous Asphalt Surface that was used was manufactured and supplied by The Breedon Group (@breedongroup) and the chosen tennis court surface was the 6mm Playcourt Tennis Open Surface Course Porous Asphalt. The Breedon PlayCourt sports surface is a porous asphalt concrete designed to allow rapid drainage through the surface of tennis courts and similar playing surfaces. The surface has many advantages, for instance it is low maintenance and will provide a hard, durable and consistent playing surface for many years. It can also be played on throughout the year, and during most weather conditions.

The Fencing System that was used was manufactured and supplied by JB Corrie & Co. (@JBCorrie) and the chosen fencing was the Tennis Angle Iron Chainlink. The most cost effective and traditional way of fencing a 2.75 metre high tennis court is with Angle Iron posts and chain link netting. Chain link is still the medium of choice for tennis and it tends to deaden the force of the ball and drop it to the floor rather than rebounding the ball back into the playing area.
