New 3G Football Pitch with Football Floodlights | ETC Sports
New 3G Football Pitch Kicks off Season for Essex Leisure Centre
July 20th 2018 was cause for celebration for keen footballers at the Everyone Active Eversley Leisure Centre in Pitsea, Essex. The date marked ETC Sports’ completion of a state-of-the-art 3G football pitch, floodlights and fencing, designed to offer players an all-year round facility equipped to stand up to any level of training and competition.
The installation formed a significant part of an £800,000 development plan for the leisure centre. It was approved by Basildon Council in August 2017 as part of the council’s Sport for All initiative. The project, which included a new gymnastics hall as well as the 3G pitch installation, was run in partnership with Everyone Active and the South Essex Gymnastics Club (SEGC) and funded by the Council, SECG and Veolia Pitsea Marshes Maintenance Trust.
Having been contracted to deliver the works, ETC Sports turned to its trusted supplier network to provide the latest artificial football pitch technology, with all construction, installation and project management handled by ETC Sports directly. Faced with unusually bad weather, ETC Sports adopted a pro-active approach to minimising project hold-ups, delivering a service that Grant Taylor, Interim Manager of Leisure, Open Space and Community Facilities for the Council, described as “very helpful and accommodating in their customer service and the quality of the installation,” adding “I would certainly want ETC to quote for any future works.”
Cutting Edge Sport Fencing and Floodlighting to Meet Modern Standards
Supplied by Playrite, the new 3G football pitch was complemented by the installation of all the facilities today’s players expect. ETC Sports applied the company’s 20 years’ experience to source the facilities, which included football floodlights supplied by Surfacelux Limited and double wire panel fencing supplied by Zaun. The result has been an aspirational training environment for beginners, amateurs and serious football enthusiasts alike.
Today’s stringent safety standards, combined with demands for all-year play, mean that leisure centres must deliver more. As a SAPCA accredited contractor for 3G pitch facilities, ETC Sports was ideally placed to install everything that the Leisure Centre needed to inspire the residents of Pitsea when it comes to getting active. Zaun’s Duo Sports Fencing was selected for its strength and stability – protecting both players and spectators – as well as its vandal resistance and rattle reduction for minimal noise interference. Meanwhile, Surfacelux’s 6 Column LED Sports Floodlighting System was chosen to provide energy-efficient, cost-effective visibility across the pitch, whatever the weather or light conditions.
A Future-Proofed 3G Pitch Facility and A Delighted Community
Designed for durable performance and requiring minimum sports surface maintenance, the new football pitch is set to provide the community of Pitsea with top quality footballing facilities for years to come.
The 3G football pitch was officially opened by the Mayor of Basildon, Cllr David Dadds, in August 2018. As part of the opening celebrations, more than 500 residents watched Bowers Football Club take on Canvey FC in a friendly match, before getting the chance to try some of the leisure centre’s new facilities for themselves.
ETC Sports is delighted to have played a driving role in this project, and we hope that the residents of Pitsea will enjoy their new football pitch for many years to come!
